![]() Honestly if someone is saying these suck then you should be able to see whether someone's pores are open at 100 yards with other more expensive models. I'm not a Navy SEAL and these will be for fun, casual observing of sketchy people in the neighborhood as well as wildlife. After purchasing these goggles as a newbie to this field I am pleasantly surprised with this product. I have read and researched dozens of different Nightvision devices and have read their respective reviews and was hes itant about getting a lower-end model and was/am still considering saving up for a thermal or pvs-14. You can see the Infrared lights but they are not flashlight bright and you would have to really look for them if there is surrounding ambient light. I couldn't really tell the difference between IR settings when turned on, but maybe they corrospond with different distances. I could distinguish objects and details with clarity. ![]() I have only tested the X-stand goggles in a in a dark room and they seem to work great. Which this X-Stand goggle is hard to distiguish between that in resolution and brightness. Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-ownedįirst off: This is my first NVD purchase so I can't really compare it to anything but my NightOwl security system which has a nightvision that automatically goes on. You lose your natural night visionin both eyes by using it. Binoculars are not as good as monocular for night vision in general. If you want to be invisible to someone else with NODs, this will not work at all because you will definitely need a source of IR light to see anything at all in these. (You want to be invisible to your subject, while your subject is visible to you - that's the whole point) With the IR illuminator on, you will probably not acheive this unless you get a good IR flashlight and leave the IR illluminator off. This defeats the purpose for some uses of night optics. The IR immuminator glows faint red to the naked eye. Hard to explain, but the apparent distance to objects is not the same in the viewer as it would be without the goggles so it seems better to use stationary. You can wear them hands free, but the optics are probably not right to move while wearing them. You won't see anything if you do not have your IR Illuminator on. Absolutely NO ambient light amplification. You can see, it will be sharp, you can manually focus for a shaper image. The price is good obvously and you WILL be able to see in the dark with them Its comfortable enough to walk, probably wouldn't hold up to running. It's a very low cost consumer product, and you get what you pay for.

![]() Of course, these can be migrated to the userChrome.css file. To keep everything tidy up, the few CSS styles I have to perform for the mod are actually done in that script file as well, using JavaScript. So, I used xiaoxiaoflood’s loader available here.Īfter you install that, all that is left to do is to create a new JS script which will do the actual DOM modifications. The problem is how do you do so nowadays, after the numerous architectural changes? Well, Firefox still has a mechanism that allows creating a framework for custom JS injection that is meant for enterprise customizations, autoconfig.js.Īround this, people build loaders for custom JS in the user profile folder. The chrome of Firefox being built using web technologies, you can of course run JavaScript on it. And it is a mere workaround for what is actually required: altering the DOM and moving the menu bar element under the address bar element. I am no expert in CSS, so I tend to stay off complicated solutions, and this certainly gets pretty complicated when you think about all the edge cases. Basically, someone suggested that I may play around with the positioning using the position: relative trick. So, what’s the solution? I will first explain what I haven’t tried. The menu bar is actually a child of the title bar (which includes the tabs), so changing its position from using moz-box-ordinal-group would allow me to have the address bar and navigation buttons on top, and tabs and the menus at the bottom. Sure enough, one can quickly identify the elements that we need to deal with, but the problem is that, even with tricks like moz-box-ordinal-group that can reorder stuff, it cannot do so if the things are not on the same level (have the same parent). Once that’s done, you can peek at the DOM of the Firefox window. The feature is called Browser Toolbox, and you can activate it as described here. Now, how do you find out the elements in the UI? Well, besides being able to ‘inspect’ pages, the F12 Developer Tools allow you to actually inspect the whole window. Once that is in place, you can override the rules for any element in the UI. So, the first step is to enable the use of userChrome.css in Firefox as described here. Plus, Firefox is the true libre browser, and it is actually a very good product, so, why not make the switch already?Īnyway, enough of the background, how do you do this? Well, Firefox’s UI is amazingly written in Web technologies (and has been so since the Netscape days, which is even more impressing), so the layout is described by CSS, naturally. I use Windows 10 daily and have long wanted to switch to Firefox, which is my choice when using GNU/Linux because it supports Wayland and has recently added support for hardware video decoding. Then, Chrome came along and the reality today is that Chrome is the new IE, for better or for worse. I have used Firefox in the past, back in the days when you could skin it to look like Internet Explorer 8 (indeed, that’s Firefox, not actual IE8 which looked like this) for example. This article shows a potential solution, which invloves injecting custom CSS and JavaScript in Firefox’s chrome. I don’t want to enable the window manager’s title bar, because that way I lose Fitt’s Law benefits when the window is maximized and can quickly switch tabs. The problem is, it kind of ruins the design, because it is drawn at the very top of the window. To be honest, Firefox is really great, providing much better font rendering when compared to Chromium (yet still a bit worse than Internet Explorer!), and amazingly, it still even includes a functional menu bar so you are not forced to deal with the one-menu-to-rule-them-all approach of the hamburger button. So, I have now officially walked away from Chromium-based forks into the truly libre Mozilla territory. ![]() I have recently rethought my choices regarding the applications I use on a day to day basis. However, if you use TickTick as intended, as a lightweight task manager with some advanced functions, you’ll quickly find you’re dealing with one of the best designed and most easy-to-use apps out there. While TickTick is one of the best project management tools for freelancers, it won’t be replacing the full suites like or Asana anytime soon. If you’re just looking for an app to keep track of grocery lists and the like, TickTick will be OK, but Any.do will be better. It also has some advanced features, like a solid calendar and a kanban board, but it’s not as powerful as a full project management program.TickTick is a solid tool for freelancers or very small businesses that want to keep on top of tasks without too much of a learning curve. This TickTick review will go over all the main points of this handy little tool. It straddles the line between task management and project management, and does so at a really good price and with great ease of use. ![]() Jonathan Scarfe as Axel Miller in Van Helsing (YouTube/Syfy)Īs far as the fight itself goes, it's pretty clearly one-sided. Though Vanessa tries to calm him down by telling him that "it doesn't have to be this way", Axel refuses to stand down, declaring there "ain't no other way it can be." She sends them away telling them to help those in need now that they are immune to vampirism but unfortunately one of Vanessa's new disciples ends up running into Axel in the middle of a bar fight. Finding out Vanessa's location from the man, Axel sets out to complete his vendetta. "I am the light."Īs expected, Vanessa's blood cures the vampires, who now see her as a Messiah figure. "This is the way," she declares, dropping to her knees and letting the vampires drink from her. But now I understand I was following the wrong path. "I've made mistakes," Vanessa says while fighting a group of vampires in the woods. Meanwhile, Vanessa has been on a path of redemption since the start of this season and Episode 4 sheds some light on her new approach to vampire-hunting. Van Helsing airs Thursdays at 9pm on Syfy.Axel Miller (Jonathan Scarfe) has been waiting for a chance to kill Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton) ever since Vanessa killed her sister Scarlett Harker (Missy Peregrym) and in 'Van Helsing' Season 4's fourth episode, he gets his shot. What happened to everyone when Vanessa screeched? If you’re curious about Doc (Rukiya Bernard) and Axel (Jonathan Scarfe), they’re still trekking along looking for Vanessa. Vanessa releases an animalistic screech that does something to all the people she has changed back to human. Vanessa rushes to her daughter and holds her in her arms as she burns away. Unfortunately the scene did not end there, with the sun rising Dylan begins to burn. As the sun is rising we see what begins as the happiest scene of the entire series with Vanessa, Dylan, and Julius having a snowball fight. The crazy doctor appears to be wrong, because Dylan changes back to human and hugs her mother. Without more blood Vanessa’s only option is to try to turn her daughter, but the bite might kill Dylan. When he returns he tells Vanessa Dylan did not eat enough to heal from the gunshot wound. Julius had been tracking them and Vanessa tells him to help the kids, and he does. Then she watches in horror as her child kills the man, then she hears children calling for their father and she realizes what she’s done. But when he shoots Dylan Vanessa slits his throat and throws him to her daughter. She captures a man and plans to cut his wrist and let Dylan drink a little then send him on his way. Now it’s Vanessa’s responsibility to feed her daughter. When Dylan (Hannah Cheramy) refuses to drink his blood because it tastes gross due to Vanessa’s bite, Vanessa tells Julius to leave them alone. Redemption | Once again human, Julius wants redemption and to help Vanessa (Kelly Overton). Felix promises to do whatever Sam wants, he just doesn’t want to die. ![]() ![]() He uses Felix to lure another boy out and kill him. Sam doesn’t like that and decides to keep Felix alive as his new friend. He finds one, Felix (Bzhaun Rhoden), and notices he’s been “punished” by the other teens. Sam’s New Toy | Sam (Christopher Heyerdahl) is back and badder than ever! He finds several teenagers living in what appears to be a high school and traps them. They know the truth about him and they aren’t happy. This was a mistake, because Lucky told Jolene to ask for advice, and Jolene reported it. When he keeps dodging making a blood donation, he confesses to Lucky (Andrea Ware) why. Julius knows he can save his mother now, so he goes to see her and change her too.įlesh Gets Betrayed | Mohamad (Trezzo Mahoro) has an infection in his wounds, but he knows he needs to warn Flesh (Vincent Gale) not to tell anyone about his past as a vampire. Along came Dmitri (Paul Johansson) who decides to turn the man. In order to pay her bills he threw his boxing match, but instead of paying him the man stabbed him. Julius was a poor man who loved his sick mother, but could not pay to keep her in a warm bed. ‘Love Bites’ was written by Jackie May and directed by Michael Nankin.īoxing Julius| In a flashback to his past, we see how Julius became the vampire we saw. Flesh and Mohamad struggle with keeping the truth a secret, Sam is back, and Vanessa kills for her daughter. Not only do we see Julius back in the 1930’s before he changed, we also got to see how he’s handling being human again. As promised by Julius’ actor Aleks Paunovic, Van Helsing delivers one hell of a backstory for Julius in the third episode of season two. |
